Make A Difference

Somewhere out there beyond these distant shores,
There is a place of solitude and vibrancy,
A place where we all wish to venture,
A place we hope to be someday.

Somewhere out there beyond these closed doors,
There is fun to be had,
There are adventures to change our lives,
There are people who could make us believe in love.

Somewhere out there beyond being poor,
A way to make our dreams come true,
Money in the bank to keep our families safe,
Success to make us proud of what we can achieve.

Somewhere out there beyond our thoughts,
Our imaginations run wild and free,
Creating new visions of life and love,
We then realize, life isn't easy...
Great lives can't always be bought.

Somewhere out here in this big world,
There are civilizations not as well off,
People struggling to find love,
Struggling to find their next meal.

Somewhere out there, countries are fighting,
Governments are being toppled,
World War III is breaking out,
Lives are being lost,
To ensure my safety.

Somewhere out there I realized,
People are risking their lives for me,
And there is nothing I can do about that,
So thank you, to all the Veterans out there,
For ensuring I have this great life in America.

Because somewhere out there,
In other countries,
People are dreaming,
They're imagining how different their lives would be,
If they lived here.

So If you're an American,
Maybe take a step back from it all,
Realize that what you have; could always be worse,
Be happy that you have food to eat,
And people that love you.
Be thankful you have great opportunities.

You have the ability to affect peoples lives,
Take responsibility and do it throughout your life,
Leave this world,
Knowing you made a difference.
